He takes care of me!

He takes care of me!

The other day, I took my dog to explore a new city. It would be a long day, so I gathered all her stuff, including her food. I knew we would be out past her dinner time and wanted to be prepared.

We had a lot of fun exploring, walking, and meeting new people. When dinner time came, to her surprise, her food was ready when we were still waiting for the train to arrive.

As the hours passed, and we continued to explore, I knew that when we got home, I was going to give her more food. Usually, I feed her twice a day (in the mornings and evenings), but because I knew she spent a lot of energy during the day, I already planned on giving her a little more food when we got home.

Of course, she is a dog, so I couldn't let her know the plans I had for her when we arrived. It was already late at night, and as we waited for our last bus to take us home, she started to get impatient.

She then decided to start smelling the dirty streets to see if she could find some leftover food or something to grab and eat quickly, while I fought hard to stop her. She finally grabbed something, and she was faster than me, so she ate it before I could do anything to get it out of her mouth. It was probably dirty, used gum; she usually goes for those. Eww! When we finally arrived home, the first thing we did was feed our dog her favorite food. She quickly finished her meal and then went to her bed to sleep.

This made me think: Sometimes we don't understand all of God's plans for us because He doesn't reveal everything to us. It's reassuring to know that His plans are always good. However, due to our common human trait of impatience, we often fall into old habits and make costly mistakes. We end up in bad relationships before realizing that the plan He has for us is far better than we ever thought or imagined. We must be patient, trust in His plans, and remember that He takes care of all our needs.

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Jeremiah 29:11

Now, do you remember a time when your impatience led you to make a wrong path or decision? How do you think that event could have turned for the better if you had waited a little more? Do you believe God could have done something different?

These aren't questions to make you feel bad or uncomfortable about some past choices you made, but they serve as a good reminder that we need to always seek his advice when dealing with our day-to-day choices. Take time to pray whenever you are unsure about something and remember that the Bible encourages us in ‭ ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭17‬ “Never stop praying.”

God wants you to include him in all decisions of your life. Imagine how much better can life be if we did just that. He is a good father who wants to have a good relationship with his sons and daughters. A good father wants to be included in the life of his children. He wants to participate in all of your activities, hobbies, work, relationships, etc… Don’t let him sit on the sidelines just watching how you make decisions without him. He wants to take care of you.
